As part of the worldwide promotion for its Lumia phone, Nokia have a series of weekly episodes running on the Nokia Facebook page under the title The Little Amazing Show. The idea is for each short episode to feature a different location, bringing people together for a bit of fun and play. Every Monday, a mini soap-opera episode offers a feel-good slice of life by setting up a simple scenario for passers-by to encounter and then engage with. A sort of people participation installation!
Nokia have coined a phrase “Little Amazings” to describe these small but fun occurrences that are happening all around us, that we can make happen and be part of, and of course record them and share them using the Nokia Lumia phone.
In the latest offering, Episode 3, the happening is in Madrid, where a DJ set is set up to provide an impromptu mini night club experience outdoors on the street. Here’s the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5n2amTXDhg
The first episode was set in Berlin, and the second in London. In Berlin an old piano was set up in an open urban space with a big sign “Play Me” above it.
In London a see-saw rigged to lighting effects was set up on the South Bank beside the River Thames.
You can see all three of them below, and thereafter catch the new episodes on Facebook each Monday, at http://www.facebook.com/nokia
So what’s the thinking behind the series? Well it’s clear that Nokia are pulling out all the stops to promote the Lumia phone. This is serious make or break stuff. The advertising is different from your usual “here’s the phone- look at all these features- you want it- buy it” type of promotion. Nokia’s advertising is people-centric and focuses more on life, and people and enjoying the little good things in every day. The phone is in background, as a sleeper, but it’s definitely there. There’s also a consistent thread of friendship running through the episodes- and a lot of the images are of two people, objects or images films in together and in harmony.
It’s an unusual campaign but judging by the comments to date, is effective. It sparks an interest to see where the next episode will take you, and what the next “Little Amazing” will be. The Nokia Lumia becomes not just a phone, but almost a philosophy and a way of life- engaging with other people to enjoy, record and share encounters both large and small.
Interestingly, some people have been left a little baffled by the episodes, and want a more traditional cut-to-the-chase advert that sets out what the phone can do, so a straight comparison can be made with other phones. But they appear to be in the minority, and the majority reaction is that the episodes are slick, interesting, fun and don’t insult the audience. That must be good, and a little amazing in itself!

Confused by jargon? You just need to stick to what you know you’re looking for.
Posted in UncategorizedEver feel completely baffled with searching online or reading through a kitchen appliances brochure? What exactly is a panasonic nn-ct559wbpq combination microwave when it’s at home? Or a panasonic flatbed microwave? Does it actually come with a built-in bed?!
Jargon is confusing at the best of times but when you’re trying to buy a new microwave it can feel even more daunting. What you need to concentrate on is not getting too bogged down in the sales pitches but rather concentrate on what you need your microwave to do for you.
Think about what you need your microwave to do – is it just reheating and defrosting food for one? If so then it’s unlikely that you’ll be needing a large microwave ovens.
What space do you have? There are countertop microwave ovens or small microwaves that can be tucked out of the way in a cupboard.
Once you’ve narrowed that down then you can start reviewing some of the product options out there. A good place to start with that is with a consumer research company that will give you the honest and impartial low down on each product and model. You can even read honest reviews from consumers about what they thought of it.
The main thing is to know what you’re looking for and stick to that, so try not to get too swayed by those tempting ‘Special Offers’ or you could get something you don’t need and regret it.

This may not come as the world’s biggest surprise but online Bingo is. the game of Bingo, played on-line!
For the uninitiated, Bingo was a game that, according to popular belief, sprung up in the States in the late 20′s, and was called “Beano” because beans were used to cover up numbers on cards. Each card had numbers printed or written on them, between 1 and 75, and the organiser pulled out numbered discs or pieces of paper from a bag or box and read out the number. Upon having all the numbers on your card filled with beans (or sometimes just one row) you yelled “Beano” and won the prize. It was very popular between the wars in the UK , where 90 numbers were used, and had their heyday in the 50′s and 60′s where Bingo Halls sprung up in many places in England .
Simple isn’t it? Except the on-line version makes things even easier for you! There was always a chance when playing Bingo “live”, that you may be distracted when listening out for the next number, or your eyes miss the number on your card in the sometimes dimmed, hushed and church-like surroundings of the Bingo Hall.
That’s not going to happen on-line, because you’ll never miss a number; all on-line sites have a feature whereby the cards you have purchased will have their numbers marked automatically, and your win will be also be logged automatically.
There are many on-line sites to choose from, most with welcome packages and loyalty bonuses to keep you with them, and initial outlays to suit every pocket. Some have free trial games to get you in the mood and persuade you how easy it is, and then add any winnings to your account if you join.
With all this encouragement, you’ve got to have a will of iron to turn away from on-line Bingo!
01
Most of the larger online Bingo sites have a good community spirit and players and spectators can meet and chat on-line. In fact that’s one of the features that people like most- fostering friendships and exchanging tactics. However the on-line Bingo phenomenon is spreading to the social networks too.
Fans of particular on-line Bingo sites can show their colours on Facebook, and meet and chat about their passion for Bingo even when not playing! There are usually offers and deals for Facebookers who become fans of particular sites, and incentives to attract new players to a particular on-line Bingo provider. Twitter is also not immune to the surge of interest in on-line Bingo and both twitter and Facebook have quizzes and games, as well as the usual gossip.
If you really have the on-line Bingo bug, then there’s really no escape or let-up.. used up all your credit playing a game- then go onto Facebook or Twitter and chat with fellow fans. Congratulate the winners, commiserate with the losers, and share tips and wrinkles. I’ve even come across some “Easter eggs” on some sites (secret locations that when tapped, provide access to extra features or games).
All this is a far cry from the once a week live Bingo sessions at the big halls- you can now be part of your Bingo community 24/7, and chat with like-minded people whenever you feel the urge! But you mustn’t forget to go to work, sleep, or feed the cat!

Plans are now in place to Skydive onto the North Pole and make a short circumnavigational safari dive under the ice.
Nigel Gifford says there shall also be raising awareness of the great work, and need for funds, of the charity Combat Stress. Nigel is the charities first ambassador and is set himself a target of raising ?250.000 through this adventure.
There are also places for observers, those wishing to make the ice dive only, or the skydive.
The full plans and details are noted in the PDF on Nigel Gifford’s website which can be downloaded.
The adventure is also a platform to bring awareness to our changing world and the climate changes that are taking place, no matter what the reasons may be. As in the 1950s, it is highly likely that the ice at the North Pole will have gone by 2013 and adventures like this may not be possible for several years, if at all. For the full organisational plan, details of the crew, and the costings down load the info from the Nigel Gifford Website

Will Bands In The Future Move Into the net Space Totally And Stop depending On CD Sales?
Posted in UncategorizedWith the Brit art-rock band Radiohead releasing their new album titled In Rainbows as a digital download and sold it for whatever their fans volunteered to pay, is this soon to be a hot trend in the strategies that bands supply their music to the general public? With CD loads to outlets down 13% from last year, this cutting edge method to get rid of the middle man, the record label, has proved precisely where the music biz is headed. There is , but a catch, the release is available only through the web site ( InRainbows.com ) and can’t be purchased in retail shops. The band will also offer fans a deluxe-edition box set that includes vinyl and CD copies of the release, and a CD of bonus tracks and a lyric book on December three. Will this system catch on? One can only guess, but given the restraints that some record companies have on their artists, early reports suggest that most patrons are basically stumping up for the release. An entrancing part to this is that the release is getting more advice by friends promotion and hoopla than most albums.
folks are teased and are talking about it and giant web sites ( customarily company ) are not deliberating it because the record company ( or lack thereof ) isn’t asking them that they do so. Now is this an one off phenomenon or is Radiohead blazing a new musical distribution trail? It could be a bit of both, in fact.
This release is a record label’s nightmare, a band can actually release it’s own material without jumping through the ancient company rings and record label red tape, and truly earn money in the act. It also shows an approaching trend, where music can be released without aid from the hard media like CDs or vinyl records.
There are predictions that in the coming years lots of bands and artists will follow this lead and may offer album downloads as a market tool to bump their tours as well as sell other product. Actually Trent Reznor, of the hard-rock band 9 In. Nails has said that they don’t have a recording contract with their record label and may follow a congruent trail of failing to have a record label to support their next release. So this is going to be the direction music is heading. Bands have also taken note of the singles market, where a customer can pay for just one or two downloads, and the artist won’t always have to have an album release to support the singles.
Yes, the digital download is here with a bang much to the chagrin of the record labels as well as vinyl fans. There is a complete new digital world out there for musicians and one they are running to snatch by the horns.

What grooves you? Why would you like to enhance? Without reference to your motives – whether to start playing, learn one or two licks of your favourite tunes, or need to expand your stock to incorporate blues, funk, or rock ‘n roll music, on the way to recording yourself, there are resources out there that will help you. Here are 1 or 2 ideas which should help you better understand your guitar playing and some solutions you can consider. Guitar videos you can buy guitar playing videos, either for home or PC watching, that include hand position, strumming technique, rhythm and timing, and finger exercises that take through various kind of songs. Essentially these become a mirror for you in learning to play as you mimic what you are watching on screen and then reproduce this on your own.
With commitment and grit, this is usually a very good one to go – especially for the perceivable learner who likes to learn basically all alone. Guitar training you’ll find a community of guitar teachers in your surrounding area who are either private tutors or work thru a community school. You’ll need to think about their experience, the type of scholars they work fine with, their suppleness with your diary, success stories, and naturally their costs, in considering working with them. In pursing guitar training, you can either do one on one or group – both have their plusses and minuses but either can work for you. Playing partners Find somebody in your local community who plays. You can do this thru asking the community school, posting online to a resource like craigslist, or asking the guitar shop. The theory is to develop a nearness with somebody that may be a bit better than you who wants the liability of practicing weekly. What you can supply is the perseverance to meet up with them weekly and practice.
In return, you can learn from their systems or techniques what works. Chord patterns, minor and major chord progressions, note scales, and overlap with piano and percussion instruments can all give you a basic structure on which to layer in the data and system you gain in your guitar playing. Playing guitar might be an excellent expression of one’s musical and creative talent. And with a dedication to continuing improvement, it can provide a life of pleasure for yourself, buddies, and family.
